Description
Stephen, one of the first deacons, is stoned to death by an angry mob for preaching about Jesus as the Messiah. Several figures are dynamically posed in what appears to be a classical scene, with a group of men raising their fists and objects in the air, while another cluster includes seated individuals in thoughtful poses. A kneeling figure in a blue garment draws attention in the foreground, contrasted against the intense emotions in the background. The images are inspired by public domain black and white engravings by Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld (published in 1860).
